Preserving Your Heritage
Jewellery Care Guide
Our pieces are crafted to be passed down through generations. Proper care and maintenance are essential to ensuring your premium Indian jewellery retains its perfect shine and structural integrity forever.
Gold Jewellery
While 22K and 24K gold is highly coveted for its rich color, it is naturally a soft metal. Gentle care is required to prevent scratches and dents.
-
Cleaning: Mix a few drops of mild dish soap in lukewarm water. Soak your gold jewellery for 15 minutes, then gently scrub with a soft-bristled toothbrush. Rinse under warm running water and pat dry with a soft, lint-free cloth.
-
Storage: Always store your gold pieces separately in the velvet-lined boxes provided with your purchase, or wrap them individually in soft cloth to prevent them from scratching against harder gemstones or other metals.
-
Avoid: Never wear your gold jewellery while swimming (chlorine can discolor it permanently) or while applying heavy cosmetics, perfumes, and hairsprays. Always put your jewellery on last when getting ready.
Diamonds & Precious Stones
Diamonds are the hardest natural substance on earth, but the gold prongs holding them are not. They can also accumulate oils from your skin very quickly, dulling their signature sparkle.
-
Restoring the Sparkle: Soak diamond rings in a solution of warm water and mild degreasing dish soap once a week. Gently brush behind the stone where dust and oil collect most.
-
Prong Inspection: We recommend bringing your diamond solitaire rings and heavy stone-set necklaces to our store every 12 months for a free prong security check using our microscopic inspection tools.
Fine Silver
Silver naturally tarnishes over time when exposed to air and humidity through a process called oxidation. Prevention is easier than removal.
-
Daily Wear: Wearing your silver jewellery actually helps prevent tarnish! The natural friction and oils from your skin keep it polished.
-
Storage against Tarnish: Store silver in completely airtight ziplock bags or anti-tarnish pouches. Adding a piece of chalk or a silica gel packet to your jewellery box will absorb excess moisture that causes tarnish.
